What is pet supplement packaging design?

Pet supplement packaging design is the design of tubs, bottles, pouches and cartons for supplements and wellness products for dogs, cats and horses: joint support, skin and coat, digestive health, calming, and daily multivitamins.

It is the pet aisle's most considered purchase. Owners research, compare ingredients and cross-check with their vet. The pack has to look credible enough for a vet clinic, clear enough for an owner at Petbarn, and be classified correctly before a line is drawn.

Morice&Co. rebuilt Natural Animal Solutions from the ground up, a vet-developed pet supplement brand sold through Petbarn, PetStock and Amazon, and designs supplement packaging for pet health brands across Australia.

00Our position

Pet wellness shoppers commit, so the brand has to read as serious.

They research, they ask their vet, and they stay loyal once they find what works. Consistency across every SKU and every touchpoint matters more than a clever pack.

Classify the product before you design it.

Pet food, feed supplement or registered veterinary product. The answer changes what the pack can claim and what has to be on it, so it comes first.

Owners now buy for their pets the way they buy for themselves.

The human supplement aisle has trained them to read actives, dose and benefit. Pet supplement packs that borrow that clarity win the comparison.

01What we design

Pet supplement formats we design.

Every format carries a dose, a count and directions. On small packs, the regulatory and dosing panel is sized first and the design is built around it.

Joint and mobility

The largest pet supplement need. Actives named on the front, dosing by weight, and a benefit claim worded to hold up.

Skin, coat and allergy

Visible-result supplements where owners judge on promise and trust. Clean, credible design rather than glossy before-and-after.

Gut and digestive

Probiotics and digestive support in powders, chews and pastes. Clear format cues so owners know how to give it.

Calming and behaviour

A fast-growing need with high emotional stakes. Reassuring design that stays on the right side of the claims line.

Daily multivitamins and chews

Everyday supplements bought on habit. Range architecture that makes the right product easy to reorder online.

Equine and multi-species

Larger tubs and buckets for horses and farm animals, where usage instructions and dosing carry most of the pack.

02The rules

The classification and claims rules that shape the pack.

Pet supplements sit between pet food and veterinary medicine. Where your product sits decides what the label can say.

Pet food or veterinary product

A supplement sold as food follows AS 5812:2023. A product that claims to treat or prevent a condition is regulated by the APVMA and needs registration and an APVMA number on the label.

Claims that hold up

Supports healthy joints is a different claim from treats arthritis. The ACCC enforces the Australian Consumer Law on every claim, and the wording is agreed before the layout is locked.

Dose, count and directions

Dose by body weight, servings per pack and how to give it. On a small tub this is the hardest panel to fit, so it is designed first.

Species and life stage

Which animal it is for and whether it suits puppies, seniors or pregnant animals. Owners look for this before anything else.

Vet channel expectations

Vet clinics, including Greencross Vets, expect clinical credibility, clear indications and dosing, and less emotion than the pet shop shelf.

Imported product

Imported supplements must clear Department of Agriculture import conditions, which can dictate ingredients and declarations on pack.

03Selected work

Work that proves it.

Natural Animal Solutions is a vet-developed pet supplement brand rebuilt as one system across identity, packaging and retailer tools. Providore shows the same craft on the food side of the Petbarn shelf.

FAQCommon questions

Questions about Pet Supplement Packaging Design.

  • A single pet supplement pack refresh typically starts around AUD $5,000 to $10,000. A full brand and packaging system across five to ten SKUs sits in the $20,000 to $60,000 range. A ground-up rebrand with retailer sales tools, catalogue and photography direction, like the Natural Animal Solutions project, runs higher depending on scope. Fixed fee, scoped to the brief.

  • It depends on the claim. A supplement sold as a food or feed supplement generally follows the pet food standard, AS 5812:2023. A product that claims to treat, cure or prevent a condition is regulated by the APVMA as a veterinary chemical product and needs registration and an APVMA number on the label. The classification should be settled before the packaging is designed.

  • Yes. Morice&Co. led the ground-up rebrand of Natural Animal Solutions, a vet-developed pet supplement brand sold through Petbarn, PetStock and Amazon, covering the identity, range architecture, packaging system, retailer sales tools, catalogue, website and photography direction.

  • Consistency and clarity. Every SKU shares one system, the actives and dose are easy to find, claims are worded carefully, and the design avoids gimmicks that undercut a vet's recommendation. Pet wellness shoppers judge the brand as a whole, so the pack, the website and the sales sheets need to tell the same story.

  • Yes. Vet-channel packaging leans on clinical credibility, clear indications and dosing. The same range often needs to work in a vet clinic, at Petbarn and online, and the system is designed for all three.
